Writing
Below are three stories I have written for journalism classes. I love to write stories about people and their relationships with their communities. Click the quotes below to read the full story.
“The national rate of all drug overdose deaths in the US has increased by 24.4% from 2014 to 2016. This percent change is a significant increase in just two years. However, the percent increase in the rate of national opioid deaths is almost double that of all drug overdose deaths at 47.7% from 2014 to 2016.”
“In 2020, the minimum wage for servers is $2.38 an hour—just over the price of one gallon of gas in State College, PA. With minimum wage so low and daily living costs so high, these young adults have found ways to make money doing what they love during the quarantine.”
“Existing members that haven't been coming as much,” said O’Hora, “we are on zoom, and it's not mandatory that they go to every single meeting.” Retention rates for clubs have declined and keeping freshman engaged can be difficult too.”
“‘I feel anxious and frustrated, but there’s a bit of hope in there,’ says Burk. ‘I just hope that everyone who is in danger of being attacked or injured by people rioting over the election stays safe,’ she says. ‘The only thing I think we can do is to take preventative measures and protect everyone we can.’”
